Computer wont turn on, motherboard sounds like a police siren
I need computer help. My kid's computer is a HP P3 with shitty hardware. It was top of the line 10 years or so ago.
I really think the motherboard is toast. Now for some reason when you try to turn on the computer, nothing powers up and the motherboard makes a sound like a police siren. No joke. da-beedee beedee beedee, da-beedee beedee beedee, da-beedee beedee beedee! beep! please help czar and his kids! |

Okay, the beeping is a diagnostics message if it sounds like the intial single "beep" you get when you typically cut the computer on. This single normal beep indicates that the computer has completed the Power On Self Test (POST) If you aren't getting the single beep, but the beeps do sound like it's coming from the same source the motherboard has detected a hardware problem. 9 times out of 10, it's memory. Get some compressed air, and dust everything out really well. While you're in there, remove the memory sticks and re-insert them. If you have open slots, it won't hurt to try them in different spots. (he probably doesn't have dual-mode or anything on this pos, so inb4 'not always' comments) (04-22-2009 09:25 AM)BATMAN Wrote: Guests cannot see links in the messages. RE: Computer wont turn on, motherboard sounds like a police siren
As it turns out, the siren the motherboard sounded was pre curser to the diagnostic beeps that will follow. I had 2 beeps and thus I replaced my power supply. Fixed.
