Let's hear it for big guns!
I guess the FBI thinks they have $13k per rifle to blow on some new 20mm hardware.

From left to right: .223/5.56, .338 Lapua, .50 BMG, and 20mm Vulcan.

The rifle...er shoulder cannon...that will be launching that behemoth of a round:

And because the A10 is such an awesome case of a plane designed around a gun.

So I'm not a master of scaling or anything, but that 20mm is about as big as a coke bottle?

At least per Wiki's info (FWIW), total length can vary anywhere between almost 6 inches up to nearly 9 inches, which I believe is about as tall as a 20 oz bottle. This here should help scale things a little better (the other rounds are .50 BMG):

That thing is fucking insane. I guess if you were going to get shot in the head, that would be the bullet to have it done with. No chance of you living after that.

I believe a head shot with that would be like hiring Leonardo da'Vinci to paint your white picket fence. That's nothing a .308 or .50 BMG (for long range) couldn't accomplish. This sort of thing is best utilized for punching through thick cast iron, like the engine block of a big diesel.

Should go through a lightly armored tank like butter. Although I don't see tanks driving down the US' streets, so I wonder why the FBI has an interest in such a round.

S.K. is developing a gun that will not only shoot 5.56 NATO but 20MM air burst rounds by pulling another trigger. Modeled after the XM29 that got scrapped back in 2004
